Black Creek Milling is uniquely situated for small batch research feeds. The mill was designed and built to service Black Creek Quail Farm. As the mill was brought online it was quickly realized that the mill had plenty of extra capacity that was especially suited for running small, specialized batches of feed which lends itself very well for research. Black Creek Milling grows corn locally and is gathered, dried, tested and then stored. This helps us to be toxic free and consistent with moisture.
The mill has a one-ton Scott twin shaft horizontal batch mixer. The mixer is fed by a major scale, 4 minor scales fed by 8 minor bins, 2 micro scales fed by 24 micro bins and computer aided hand adds. The major scale is accurate to 1 pound, the minor scales are accurate to .1 pounds, and the micros are accurate to .02 pounds. Two hand add scales are used in the computer aided hand adds. One is accurate to .01 pounds and the second to .001 pounds. We have one liquid tank of soybean oil, but have a tote hook up to meter other liquids to the mixer as needed.
We have pelleting capability with a 60 HP CPM pellet mill and CPM counter flow cooler. We can do pelleting runs as small as 1000 pounds and up to two tons per hour with the cooler being the limiting factor. The mill is also equipped with a CPM crumbler. All mill operations are controlled with Beta Raven automation.
